The Heat Networks (Scotland) Act 2021 is an act of the Scottish Parliament with the goal of increasing usage of heat networks.[1]
One aim of the legislation is to meet the targets under the Climate Change (Scotland) Act 2009.[2]
Provisions
The act sets a target for the equivalent of 650,000 dwellings to be connected to heat networks by 2030.[3]
The legislation creates a new licensing system to improve standards in the installation sector.[4]
The Queen's private estate, Balmoral Castle, is exempt from the compulsory purchase powers in the legislation.[5]
