"Wishing It Was You" is a song written by Clyde Otis and Joy Byers and most popularly performed by Connie Francis.[1] The song is about a woman who is getting married but wishes she was getting married to a different man.
Chart performance
In 1965, the track reached No. 14 on the U.S. easy listening chart and No. 57 on the Billboard Hot 100.[2] In the Philippines, it spent at least five weeks at No. 1 on the national chart in December 1965.[3]
Other versions
Prior to Francis' recording, Anita Bryant released a version as the B-side to her 1962 single, "A' Sleeping at the Foot of the Bed".[4] In the Philippines, the track reached No. 5 on the national chart in early 1963.[5]
